Ice continues its extend in Caspian Sea

Cloudless weather over North Caspian Sea over last several days allowed us to observe the extend of sea ice until Mangyshlak bay. There is distinct border between older stabilised ice developed along the northern and eastern shores in November and younger mobile ice in the central and southern parts of the area. Kashagan, Peshnoi and Prorva are covered with stable ice with multiple presence of ridged and rafted areas. Expected moderate breeze eastern winds by the end of the week will likely to create major drift of ice in the central part and create new leads along stable ice cover.

We continue to monitor ice conditions in the area and provide you with the latest available images of region and locations of interest on our website.
